Upcoming Pasion Y Arte Events:

We have various "Tablao" style performance coming up at two area restaurants: Cafe Habana in Philadelphia and the Mediterra Restaurant in Princeton.

Flamenco performance originates from "tablao" style roots, where Gypsies performed in various local restaurants also knows as "cafes del cante' (singing cafes).  Spanning from early 1800's to early 1900's this type of performance allowed flamenco to grow both in range and aesthetic by allowing for the first time a non-gypsy audience to view this art form.  Eventually a small stage was created in these popular '"cafes del cante" and highly acclaimed Flamenco artists performed in these intimate settings before the introduction of the "theatrical" period.
